McLaren MP4-12C Supercar Review

Now this British company is at it again with the 2012 McLaren MP4-12C Supercar. The MP4 is powered by a 3.8 liter V8 bi-turbo mounted amidships and the rear wheels. Production is expected to reach nearly 600 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. The only transmission available is a double-clutch seven-speed unit to be operated by paddles. The McLaren MP4-12C’s construction relies heavily on carbon fiber and aluminum. Consequently, curb weight is said to be fewer than 3,000 pounds.

2012 McLaren MP4-12C price (estimated to be about $265,000) will be considerably less than that of the legendary McLaren F1 (which was never officially sold here) or Mercedes SLR McLaren. At this price, it will compete against Ferrari’s 458 Italia and the Lamborghini Gallardo.
